Hardware Allocations Cycle

What are Allocations?

Computer Allocation is a 4-year computer replacement cycle. Roughly 25% of all college owned computers, including classrooms and labs, are replaced during the summer of each year (June, July, and August). Want to know where your department is in the cycle? Click here.

What does "ON-HOLD" mean?

Due to the difficult economic state of the nation, and consequently, the college, all computers due to be allocated in 2009 will not be allocated until 2010. To see if your department was up for an allocation this year, click here.

What about The Out-Of-Cycle Process?

Considering the cycle is on-hold and the budget is very limited, there will not be any out of cycle requests. If you believe that you are in dire need of either an upgrade or replacement, we ask that you make that request, in writing, to your Senior Officer by June 12th, 2009. Senior Officers will then review the requests and consult with CIS prior to their making a final determination. Please be aware that these requests should only be for serious hardware malfunctions. Each request will be evaluated for severity and your request may be denied if it is not deemed necessary. If your issue requires addressing, it could possibly be handled with a hardware upgrade or you may receive a better, used computer if there is one available. New computers will only be purchased in the most extreme cases.

Will Any Upgrades Be Made?

We will begin this summer by taking an inventory of all computers on campus. Then we will proceed to use the small budget we have available to make hardware and software upgrades to computers that are desperately in need. We will not know where upgrades will be made until the inventory has occurred in the month of June.
