Banner is an integrated database solution that is used by the Administrative Offices at Vassar College. Faculty, Students and Employees can access Banner data through Ask Banner and Banner Online.

Banner Administrative System (Internet Native Banner)

bannerThe Banner system is comprised of several functional modules: General, Student, Advancement/Alumni, Finance, Human Resources/Position Control and Financial Aid. Banner is used to facilitate the tracking of prospective students through Advancement, hiring of employees,  processing of purchase orders and invoices and payroll processing. Access to Banner requires an Administrative Account and approval by a BISC Committee member. Account requests can be sent to btech@vassar.edu.  Current Release: Banner 8.

askbannerThe Ask Banner website is the central entry point for Students, Faculty and Employees to view class schedules, class rosters and directories or link to Banner Online:

  • General Information:  This includes employee, student and emeriti directories, academic calendar, course catalog, exam schedule and schedule of classes.  The directory applications also include an application for individuals to set display preferences for the public or campus community directory.
  • Student and Financial Aid:  Student can access their addresses on record, class schedule, transcripts, billing and financial aid information.  Vassar ID Number and Pin required. Role: Student. Oversight: Registrar’s Office
  • Academics:
    • Faculty/Advisor – Faculty members and Advisors can view their class rosters, as well as information related to their advisees. Vassar ID Number and Pin required. Role: Faculty or Advisor. Oversight: Registrar’s Office.
    • Administrative/Department - Used by Department Chairs, Department Secretaries and Administrators to view class rosters, etc. Administrative Signon required. Role: Department Chair, Department Secretary. Oversight: Registrar’s Office
    • Faculty Voting – This application is used to facilitate the elections of the faculty members to elected committee positions as defined by the faculty governance. Vassar ID Number and Pin required. Role: Academic Suffrage. Oversight: Committees on Committees.
    • Faculty Staffing Plans – Department Chairs and Secretaries use this application to project departmental teaching plans for upcoming academic year. Vassar ID and Pin required. Role: Department Chair, Secretary. Oversight: DOF Office.
    • Curricular Change Requests – This application is used to submit changes to curriculum for review and approval by the Committee on Curricular Policy (CCP). Vassar ID Number and Pin required. Role: Faculty, Department Chair, Department Secretary. Oversight: Registrar’s Office
    • Student Employment -  The student employment applications are used by students to apply for on-campus jobs, departments to review employment roster, manage descriptions.  Vassar ID Number and Pin required. Role: Financial Aid Student . Oversight: Student Employment Office
    • Pre-Registration -  Where students can pre-register by ranking their course selections for the next semester.  Vassar ID Number and Pin required: Role: Student. Oversight: Registrar’s Office

Banner OnlineBanner Online (also known as Banner Self Service) gives members of the Vassar Community access to their personal records such as payroll information, address, benefits, etc. 
•    Banner Online is also used to enter and approve student and staff time sheets.
•    Faculty use Banner Online to submit final grades.
•    Budgets and Requisition processing are also available to authorized personnel through Banner Online.
