Google Apps Pre-Migration Housekeeping

There are not a lot of things we need to do to the mail date before we migrate from Zimbra to Google in early July.   However, there are two small housekeeping items that need to be addressed for a seamless transition.

  1. Messages Over 25MB:  Zimbra makes it easy to find those message and save/remove the attachments, therefore retaining the message body with the rest of your mail.  Click here for detailed instructions.

  2. Avoiding "INBOX/" Label Names:  If your folders are nested below your inbox, instead of at the same level as your inbox.  The labels created by Google for those folders will be INBOX/[FOLDERNAME].  This doesn't prevent any data from migrating to the new system and you can easily rename the labels after migration.  However, we have outlined how to move your folders below, in case you would like to take care of this now.  Click here for detailed instructions.

Housekeeping Help

The help sessions are over but can I still get help with this?

If you've tried to follow the instructions for handling messages over 25MB and avoiding "INBOX/" label names but you still need help, you can put in a ticket by sending an email to helpdesk@vassar.edu and someone will make an appointment to assist you.  Please do this as soon as possible.  We'd like to have the clean up phase complete by the end of May 2012.
