Help Desk Hours and Locations

The CIS main Help Desk is located in the Computer Center.

M-Fr:
8:30 AM - 5 PM
  Sa: CLOSED
  Su: CLOSED

The CIS Library Help Desk is located in the Main Library.


M-Th:
8:30 AM – 1:30 AM
Fri: 8:30 AM - 10:00 PM
  Sa: 12:00 PM - 8 PM
  Su: 12:00 PM – 1:30 AM
If you need help, you can send an email to helpdesk@vassar.edu or call x7224 and we will make sure that the appropriate person on our staff comes to your aid. For the Card Office, email card@vassar.edu or call x2273 (xCARD).

Who's Who at the Help Desks

It's a common misconception that the CIS Help Desks are manned solely by students. Although we have a large staff of quality student employees, who are capable of assisting you with your problems at any hour of the day, we also have Help Desk professionals at both of our help desk.

With us for over 7 years, is the knowledgeable and always helpful, Carolyn Jones. Carolyn is the face of the CIS Help Desk. As our Help Desk Supervisor, she is there every day, ensuring the Help Desk runs like a well-oiled machine.

Highlights of Carolyn's Career:

  • Carolyn has been at Vassar College for over 7 years.
  • She is a Help Desk Supervisor.
  • She handles answering the phone, training the student workers and some first level triage.
  • She began her career in I. T. as an IBM secretary and later held a position as a Database Manager.
  • She's also the Vice President of Communications for the Hudson Valley Chapter of Help Desk Institute (HDI).

David Castellani is a mainstay of our Computer Center Help Desk. David is there every day, ready, willing and able to help you with your technology issues. He is a highly trained customer service professional.

Highlights of David's Career:

  • David was trained and a certified help desk analyst by the US Air Force.
  • He is certified in the following: Active Directory 2003 (NetG), HP OpenView)(NetG), Windows 2003 Server (NetG), Win2k Professional and Server (Wavetech).
  • Customer Care College Phase I, Internetworking with TCP/IP (Wavetech), and Exchange 2003 (NetG).
  • David was named HDI Help Desk Analyst of the year for 2008

Laura Williams may be new to the Library Help Desk but she's a seasoned veteran of the Vassar User Services Team. Laura is the reliable face of the Library Help Desk. She's there every day.

Highlights of Laura's Career:

  • Laura has worked in education since 2002 providing support in K-12 and Higher Education.
  • Laura has been part of the Vassar CIS team since 2006.
  • Laura is experienced with Blackboard support and administration, FCP/Avid support, Audio/Visual troubleshooting, and project management.
  • She's a Microsoft Office expert with thorough knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • She has take courses in Computer Based Publishing, Computer Systems and Applications, Conducting Business on the Internet, Data Management Concepts and Visual Basic Programming.
