After Hours Study Space

What is in the After Hours Study Space?

The Main Library boasts a After Hours Study Space which will include the Reserve / Technology Help Desk, VPrint printers, Digital Media Zone, comfy seating and much more.

The Digital Media Zone serves as a public space for do-it-yourself media production, with expert help available. All Vassar students, faculty, and community members may come here to work on video, audio, web and graphic design projects.  

Standard work stations will be distributed among high-end digital work station to encourage collaboration. This space will be used for round table discussions, technology demonstrations, interactive training sessions and project collaboration.

Academic Year Reserve / Technology Help Desk Hours

The Library Reserve / Technology Help Desk is located in the Main Library.  Regular hours are:

M-Th:

8:30 AM – 3:00 AM / After Hours Study Space Open

Fri:

8:30 AM - 10:00 PM /  After Hours Study Space Open Until 10:00 PM

Sa:

9:00 AM - 10:00 PM / After Hours Study Space Open Until 10:00 PM

Su:

10:00 AM – 3:00 AM / After Hours Study Space Open

Who's Who in the After Hours Study Space

It's a common misconception that this service area is operated solely by students. Although we have a large staff of quality student employees, who are capable of assisting you with your problems at any hour of the day, we also have professionals available 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.

Gordon McClelland is the IT Professional at the Digital Media Zone in the After Hours Study Space.  Gordon is there from Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM to help you with the software and equipment available for audio editing, video production, graphic design, web design and more.  Gordon also has a talented team of student employees available for one-on-one help and training.

Chris Gahn is the IT Professional at the Library Reserve & Technology Help Desk.  Chris is there from Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5 PM to help you navigated the technical waters of higher education.  Chris guides the team of student employees who are also ready, willing and able to help you at any time of the day or night.

Highlights of Chris' Career:

  • Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from SUNY New Paltz
  • He worked as a Student Help Desk representative at SUNY New Paltz for four years
  • Science and Technology are his two main areas of interest
  • He will be at the Library Help Desk every day to enthusiastically assist you with all of your technology-related questions
