Create a strong password to your Computer and change it regularly. Do this for all of your other accounts too (eg email, bank, Banner, etc). Take a look at our FAQ for Passwords

  1. Keep your Virus protection up to date. Install Virus Protection Software.
  2. Keep your Operating System software up to date.
  3. Use Secure Applications; UPDATE YOUR BROWSER --REGULARLY
  4. Never provide information about yourself or others to unknown people or websites
  5. Don't click or download things that you didn't solicit. In other words, never react to candy from strangers. Even saying no thank you (by clicking) gives them information about you.
  6. Don't download "free" software. Nothing is free. Often these free applications come with spyware and other malware including viruses
  7. Add a Screen Saver to your computer and password protect the screensaver
  8. Mac or PC
  9. LOG OUT of of accounts when you are finished. Don't just close the window.
  10. Delete unwanted/unneeded files from your computer
  11. Be aware of the sensitive nature of information that you have access to.
