Computer Allocation is a 4-year computer replacement cycle. Roughly 25% of all college owned computers, including classrooms and labs, are replaced during the summer of each year (June, July, and August). Want to know where your department is in the cycle? Click here.
It is CISs' goal to insure that each college employee has a computer that can perform all of the day-to-day functions required of the individual including text processing, web browsing, editing, numerical analysis, multimedia, and electronic mail. The Allocation process provides individuals and departments the opportunity to request a personal computer configuration (desktop, laptop, Apple or PC). The same process funds computing classrooms, labs, and special-purpose workstations.
All computers currently in a department on this year's schedule will be replaced. If your department is scheduled for upgrade this year, there is no need to make a request through the out-of-cycle process. CIS will visit each allocated department to consult with regard to your needs before deployment. If the new computer renders peripherals or software inoperable, we will upgrade that as well. We will also evaluate departmental printers for replacement.
If your department is not within the cycle year, you may make an out-of-cycle request. It is likely that some out-of-cycle upgrades will be recycled machines that still have enough power to allow the new owner to make it to the department's planned upgrade date without compromising efficiency. When requesting new equipment, please select the type of computer you require (Mac, Windows-based PC, or other). If approved, the computer you receive will be more powerful than the one it will replace and will be capable of running all current versions of supported software.
