Telecommunications Guide for Employees

Telecommunications encompasses a variety of systems and services at Vassar.   The Telecommunications Office is part of Computing and Information Services and is housed in the Computer Center.  Inquiries related to telecommunications should be directed to the help desk at helpdesk@vassar.edu or x7224.

  • Campus Phone and Voicemail:
    If you are an employee of Vassar College, you likely have a fancy looking telephone sitting next to your computer.  Click here for all you need to know about it.
  • Name Connector (Parlance):
    The Name Connector (sometimes referred to as "Parlance") is an automated directory system using voice recognition technology. Click here to learn more about Name Connector.
  • Employee Call Authorization Codes:
    You can not dial long distance calls from your campus phone without a call authorization code.  Business and personal codes can be issued for long distance and international calls.  Click here for information on obtaining these codes.
  • Cell Phone Policy:
    Vassar College no longer owns cellular telephones or PDAs, or contracts with cellular providers for monthly service for cellular phones or PDAs. As of July 1st 2013, Vassar College will no longer provide employee stipends for service or equipment.
